If there's one hotel that was on the top of my
favorite hep, it has to be the old original
MGM GRAND. Maybe it was the 1970's
design, the mood lighting or maybe it was the
MGM movie connection...or all the above,
probably.

I collected as much as I could, even the ash
trays they laid around the place. I was a bit
disappointed with their stationary; too plane.
TOP: the old theater before it became Bally's Race &
Sports Book. RIGHT: The original lion's den. Located
downstairs in the shop gallery. I had my picture with
him, but it went lost.
BELOW: Speaking of which, here's
a shot of the gallery itself. It make not look much, but it
had a few funky little stores!
RIGHT: I got so hung up with the Grand that I
bought this patch because it had the logo. This was
sewn along with my Aladdin patch. While others had
the words like Kiss and Charlie Angles tattooed on
their shirts, I had this.

ABOVE: This is a rare shot of the old MGM Grand under construction (circa 1973/74). It's a
screen shot from a YouTube of someones Vegas vacation on film.
P. S.: Another note of my old MGM Grand obsession were the ashtrays. They were
everywhere in the place and I must of snuck out a couple of 'em. I still have one and I's include
a photo of it here but I've seen a lot of them all over ebay.com.
